Let’s walk through this super simple and extremely appetizing dessert to throw in some extra sweet to this post. Baklava According to Alia and Radwa, what’s not to love about baklava? And we couldn’t agree more. With just eight ingredients and half an hour, you’ll have a large sheet pan worth of some uh-maz-ing Egyptian goodness. What you’ll need:Simple Syrup Ingredients – 1 ½ cups granulated sugar¾ cup water1 teaspoon lemon juice Baklava Ingredients –1 pound Athens phyllo dough2 ½ cups walnuts¼ cup granulated sugar9 ounces ghee What you’ll do:1. Position a rack in the center of the oven, and preheat the oven to 350° Fahrenheit.2. Heat a large pot over high heat. Add the sugar and submerge it with water. Gently swirl the mixture around until the sugar is dissolved. Bring the mixture to a boil, and let it boil for 5 minutes. Whisk in the lemon juice. Set the mixture aside to cool completely.3. Using a sharp knife, slice the phyllo dough in half lengthwise to create two long pieces. Cut each piece into 1-inch sections, and arrange them in a single layer at the bottom of a baking dish.4. In a food processor, add the walnuts and sugar. Pulse until the mixture is well combined and finely ground. Sprinkle a layer over the phyllo dough.5. Repeat the process, adding another layer of phyllo dough followed by more of the nut mixture. Top the dish with the remaining phyllo.6. Slice 5 cuts vertically into the top of the dough followed by 8 diagonal slices.7. Pour the melted ghee over the dish, coating the dough completely and ensuring it gets into the crevices of the slits.8. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown. Be careful not to burn!9. Remove from the oven, and pour the cooled simple syrup on top of the baklava. Enjoy right away!10. Store at room temperature for up to 1 week. We can’t get over it! Here’s what you’ll need: • 2 cups nut milk of your choice, almond/coconut/hemp • 1 cup blackberries, plus more for garnish • 2 tsp. maple syrup, or more if you like it sweeter • 1 tsp. vanilla extract • Pinch of Himalayan pink salt • 1/3 cup chia seeds Here’s what you do: 1. In a high powder blender combine the nut milk, blackberries, maple syrup, vanilla, and salt. Blend on high until smooth. 2. Pour into a medium size bowl and add in the chia seeds. Whisk together. Let sit for 10 minutes and then whisk again. Place in the fridge for 2-3 hours to firm up, even better overnight. Whisk again before serving. 3. To serve place some in a shallow bowl, top with more blackberries, coconut flakes, hemp seeds, chopped almonds or whatever your favorite toppings are. You can swirl into yogurt or eat on its own.
