In Exoprimal, players dressed in high-tech exoskeletons, sparing no shells and bombs, destroy huge hordes of dinosaurs, and if several testers get caught in the crossfire... well, such are the costs of a dangerous profession.
Capcom's new title is similar to several online action games from an online friv game developer Friv2Online that are popular these days. The design of the combat exoskeletons, for example, is immediately reminiscent of Anthem and Warframe, and the teamwork that is happening on the battlefield is similar to the hero skirmishes in Paladins or Overwatch.
In the Exoprimal closed beta, players are invited to test their mettle in the Dino Survival mode. In it, ten participants are divided into two teams and go to the city streets, which have become a testing ground for suits of the Aibius corporation.
Wargames take place in several stages, during which exofighters first compete in the speed of destroying waves of dinosaurs and their genetically modified relatives, and at the end fight in PvPvE mode for data that will eventually be delivered to Leviathan, a supercomputer with a god complex engaged in development ultimate suit model.
In the PvE part of the competition, testers see the position of the opposing team, but cannot influence their result, while in the final battle they are free to unleash the entire arsenal of deadly skills on the competitor and even team up with predators. The friv game was created on RE Engine, which has a positive effect on the visual component, animations of movement and shooting. But explosions and destruction look somewhat mediocre, and in hot moments the battlefield is overloaded with special effects, which makes it difficult to navigate what is happening. At the beginning of the journey, the player can create his own exfighter, operating with hairstyles, beards, prepared models of male and female faces. There are not so many options, but you will hardly see him, except perhaps on the “best fighter” screen of the session.

Exoprimal features three classes of suits: four types of stormtroopers, three exoskeletons for the vanguard, and three more for support. In Dino Survival mode, you can change the costume before the start of the session and when reborn after death.
Each costume has a unique ID, design, weapon and set of abilities. So, the Deadeye attack aircraft is equipped with an automatic rifle with an underbarrel grenade launcher, Vigilant is a sniper, Krieger carries a rotary cannon with him, and Zephir strikes from a bow.
Exoprimal
Each exoskeleton has two combat abilities, one movement skill, and an ultimate weapon. Deadeye has Cluster Salvo, which unleashes a hail of large-caliber bullets on the enemy, and the Roadblock tank becomes the epicenter of a destructive tornado.
Players choose not only a costume, but also equipment - it is also in the public domain. It can be a super-powerful cannon for a directed shot, a unit with nano-robots for restoring health, a jump module - there are six types of equipment in the friv game.
Exoprimal
Killed lizards can drop so-called craft chips, designed to quickly build barricades. There is a use for them: barricades absorb shots, block dinosaurs and enemy players until the energy supply is exhausted.
At the final stage, where teams fight not only with dinosaurs, but also with each other, the Leviathan group, which is lagging behind on points, offers to use the Dominator system. The player who has acquired the superweapon can summon the Tyrannosaurus Rex to the battlefield and control it to quickly deal with opponents. Rex has three abilities, he kills almost instantly and has a huge amount of armor.
Exoprimal
Impressions Exoprimal left twofold. It looks great and the idea is generally good, but the gameplay raises many questions. It’s too early to draw any conclusions, you need to wait for the progress system to appear (I really hope that they don’t disappoint with it), costume balance, customization, difficulty levels, server debugging and new tests.
At this stage, Capcom sees Dino Survival as the main friv game mode, which personally upsets me a little - it is insanely chaotic and underdeveloped, and the PvP competition at the end will certainly upset fans of PvE challenges.
